Just realised my last Blog was in the Spring (blush), but its been busy at Oliveira, with lots of Shows/Exhibitions, including Cheltenham Grand Sale at beautiful Sudeley Castle, Badminton Horse Trials, Ideal Home Show in Glasgow, Ripeley Castle Fashion Sale, Burleigh Horse Trials, The Cruise Show in Birmingham, Harrogate Grand Sale and Ascot Fashion Sale…Phew! thats a fair few miles.
In between Shows i have been designing some exciting new lines, which will be announced shortly on Oliveira website and Facebook! So watch this space.
Last but by no means least, i have added an exciting range of hand made furry headbands, made by me, with the softest, silkiest faux fur, and a discreet elastic seam ensures one size fits all!
Busy sewing all Summer to keep you warm in Winter.
So am i forgiven for not keeping the Blog updated regularly?
How lovely to see the sun shinning at last, and I’m already wearing my Caparicas.
I kick started April with a holiday of a life time in beautiful South Africa, made extra special by visiting friends and family. The trip included a Safari and a visit to the awesome Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.
Loved the wildlife and got amazingly close to the big four, sadly the Leopards did not want to make an appearance.
Feeling very relaxed and refreshed ready for all the forthcoming shows. Starting with The Ascot Fashion Sale on the 19th-20th April, closely followed by The Cheltenham Grand Sale at Sudeley Castle on the 24th-28th.
If you are visiting either of these shows pop over to the Oliveira stand and say Hello!
Can not believe we are already at the end of February!
I must have been a very good girl, because Santa gave me a new camera for Christmas, so started the New Year modelling and photographing Oliveira Shoes for SS 2013.. I hope you agree the new sunny shots look fabulous.
I was also nominated and reached the TOP 5 in the Footwear Industry Designer of the Year Awards. The finals were on the 17th February in Birmingham and although I did not win, it was beyond my wildest dreams to be a finalist. Lovely evening and met some wonderful people.
On the 25th February I exhibited at a local fundraising event for the Chase Hospice, it was great to be involved and help raise funds for such a worthy cause, thank you to those who came along to support..
Now I’m looking at and booking Shows and Exhibitions for the coming months, dates to be published soon.
As 2012 comes to a close, I’d like to thank everyone for the kind words and support that I have received both face-to-face and through the Facebook and Twitter pages. I love seeing your photos and reading your reviews so keep them coming! You can read some of my favourite testimonials here, including one from the ‘strictly’ fabulous Fern Britton.
Hope everyone has a great New Year’s Eve planned – I’ll be starting 2013 as I mean to go on, dancing the night away in my Oliveiras!
It’s been another whirlwind month for me and my Oliveiras, what with attending two fabulous shows in the bright lights of London, meeting some more of my wonderful Oliveira customers and generally preparing myself (and my feet!) for the festive season.
I found myself getting into the Christmas spirit even earlier this year, when I attended the Ideal Home Christmas Show in Earls Court at the end of November. The venue had been decorated beautifully, with festive surprises at every turn. Everywhere looked and felt like a Winter Wonderland, complete with fake snow and fairy lights as far as the eye could see. There was even an indoor skating rink! Visit my Facebook page to see some of the photos I took over the weekend, including a snap of me hugging Santa – a definite ‘big kid’ moment! My Olivellies were the best sellers of the weekend, followed by the sparkly Colombos, my perfect Christmas party shoe.
Both styles went down equally well at the Lady Taverners Christmas Lunch, an event that was a personal highlight for me this year. I felt privileged to meet so many fantastic women who work incredibly hard to raise money for specially adapted sport and recreation equipment for young people with special needs – a wonderful cause considering 2012’s sporting triumphs. £18,000 was raised on the day; an amazing result that I am so glad I was able to be a part of and contribute to.
With only a week left until the big day, I’m sure to be busier than ever, sending out last minute Oliveira orders and getting final presents bought and wrapped. It really is a lovely time of year; I can’t wait to spend it with my family and friends.
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas, from all of us here at Oliveira.
It’s been a busy few months here at Oliveira HQ, what with designing and sending out our Autumn/Winter Look Book, attending shows and as always, taking care of business in general.
Some of you may have spotted me at the Harrogate Fashion & Gift Fair in September or the Really Good Deal Fashion sale at Ascot Racecourse in October – I certainly recognised some familiar faces! I always love going to shows like these; it’s great fun meeting fellow exhibitors as well as chatting with new and returning Oliveira customers.
I was amazed to find that most people were there to start (and some, even finish!) their Christmas shopping. I love Christmas, but with the lights and decorations creeping in to the shopping centres earlier and earlier every year, it got me thinking – just how early is too early to prepare for Christmas?
Some seriously savvy shoppers were telling me that they’d started with the January sales, whilst others said that despite their best efforts, it always ended up with a mad dash around the shops on Christmas Eve.
Finding a happy medium can be difficult; after all, Christmas is about the joy of giving, and stressful shopping will undoubtedly take the fun out of it.
At Oliveira we believe in making shopping easy, which is why we offer FREE delivery and returns so customers can try on their favourite shoes at no extra cost, just like they would do in any shop (but without battling for a seat!) And in the spirit of forward thinking, why not sign up to our monthly newsletter for more of our latest updates and exclusive offers.
Now what could be simpler than that?
We’ve been carrying out a fun survey with our customers, and the answers are providing an intriguing insight into your lives as shoe-lovers!
For starters, if you’re like me and own more than 100 pairs of shoes, then we’re certainly not alone. One in 10 of the women that we surveyed admitted to having clocked up a ‘footwear century’ while several more said they had ‘far too many to count’!
Meanwhile, the chances are that you’re reading this wearing UK size 6 shoes, as we found that a third of you tend to select this size, with a fifth of us wearing size 5s.
Your favourite shoes by far are high heels, and an incredible 9 out of 10 of us have teetered out in stilettos at some point in our lives! But we do like our flats and sandals too.
Three-quarters of us kick off our shoes when going into our own homes – yet a third of us keep them firmly on our feet when visiting someone else’s place!
And if you’re someone who has ticklish feet, then squirm no more. Two-thirds of us admit to having ‘sensitive soles’!
We’ll be revealing more survey results on our Facebook page over the coming days, so please ‘Like’ us and take a look.
Whether watching on TV, or having a day at Centre Court, Wimbledon fortnight (June 25th to July 8th) is packed with the thrills and spills of one of the most visually pleasing sports. Plus, it’s a wonderful excuse to get stuck into some delicious strawberries and cream!
I’m getting into the swing of this year’s championships by wearing my pom-pom Galle wedges in the traditional Wimbledon green and mauve colours.
I designed these soft-wedged summer flip-flop shoes as a fun, comfy ‘holiday for feet’ and I’m told that they’re brilliant for the beach – and a perfect partner to a pampering session.
In fact, if you’re looking to indulge yourself or a friend, we’ve developed a great Galle giveaway with our friends at b-line beauty to complement their gorgeous spa products. You can click here to find out more.
As soon as the weather warms up, we Brits tend to struggle with our wardrobes.
Finding an elegant summer shoe that doesn’t pinch at your toes in the heat of the day is a tricky business! Like many women, in the past I often found myself in flat flip-flops or sandals – hardly the most flattering of footwear.
Today’s choice of ‘fashionable’ summer shoes still seems to feature a lot of undesirable options – from the oh-so sensible sandals, to clumpy wedge heels, and peep-toes that you know will hurt after a few minutes of being on your feet!
It’s for this reason that I became a shoe designer in the first place. I was inspired by the delicate, open-toe shoes I saw while spending time with family and friends in Sri Lanka. Designed for hot weather and pretty saris, I found their women’s shoes were a perfect match for western-style dresses and trousers too.
My Caparica ‘toe post’ shoes are now my sunny day essentials. They’re a fresh twist on summer sandals – and so comfy I barely take them off! The kitten heels look flattering and graceful, and the handmade soft leather upper is available in four colours to match a full wardrobe range: ‘Sunburst’, Bronze’, ‘Black’ and ‘Plum’.
Since becoming a shoe designer, my summer wardrobe struggles have become a thing of the past. So, if you’re reading this now in shoes you’re not thrilled about, why not try a ‘toe post’ too?
The British weather has a habit of letting us down, but that doesn’t mean we want to hide indoors all summer!
If, like me, you’re fed up with the wet weather but still want to get out and about then all you need to do is kit yourself out with the right accessories.
Although I designed my Olibrolly umbrellas with early spring showers in mind, it has been a godsend for attending outdoor events into May – and along with a pair of Olivellies boots, they’re just the thing to keep me smiling at country shows, fetes and festivals.
In fact, if you’re at the Royal Windsor Horse Show (May 9th-13th) or at the Hickstead Derby in West Sussex (June 20th-24th), you can meet me at the Oliveira stand! As well as Olivellies and Olibrollies, I’ll have a great selection of my ‘toe post’ shoes available – perfect if you’re planning to get away from the rain with a sunshine holiday this summer. But, if you can’t wait until then to get your hands on a pair of holiday shoes, why not take a look at my Collection on this website? Then you can order yours today!← Older posts
